Welcome to Rashional.com!

I am Mark Rash, an instructional design and development professional and lifelong learner. This site contains a portfolio sampling some of my academic and professional accomplishments.

I am a highly motivated, experienced instructional designer & developer. I have worked in the field of instructional design since 2007, designing and developing learning solutions for adult learners across the country. But even before acquiring the job title or beginning down the educational development career path, I was an accidental instructional designer. Even as a child I seemed to have a natural tendency to document how to do things and help family members learn how to use their computers. In later jobs in a call center environment, I found myself creating job aids, online reference materials, and other support tools even before I knew what any of these terms really meant or understood them to be a part of this wonderful field called instructional design. Along with a constant drive to learn new things, I discovered a love for helping others learn, and thus a career path began!

I am experienced with educational development both in the corporate world and in the Federal Government. Audiences for my training products have included a wide range of individuals, such as retail store associates, call center representatives, leaders, managers, supply chain workers, executives, federal government employees, librarians and other information specialists, health care professionals, and consumers of health information. Having obtained a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from Virginia Tech, my educational and professional background provide the knowledge and skills necessary to create effective, results-driven learning solutions.

Originally from Bristol, Virginia, a small city situated on the Virginia-Tennessee border, my wife Shannon and I have called Knoxville, Tennessee our beloved home for more than 5 years now. Besides a love for learning, I also enjoy spending time with Shannon and our "cool cat" Mo, exploring the Scruffy City, playing piano/keyboard and serving on the contemporary worship team at our church, hiking, and watching ice hockey (go Knoxville Ice Bears and Preds!) and football (go Vols, go Hokies)!
Yes, you read that correctly - I pull for both the Hokies (my alma mater) and the Vols (our hometown team), which puts me in the minority. But most importantly both are highly respected academic institutions!

On this site, you will find samples of work from both my academic and professional setting (with proprietary information removed). Please have a look around!
